Happy holidays and warmest wishes to you and your staff from the National Organization of Rheumatology Managers (NORM)! We hope this holiday season provides you with a break from your hectic work schedule, and gives you time to create special memories with loved ones and embrace the joy of family traditions.

This past year presented many challenges for our rheumatology practices, from the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 and quality reporting, to documenting medical necessity, and introducing biosimilars into clinical practice.

An important goal of NORM is to bring education and awareness to rheumatology practice managers about emerging topics that affect their specialty. To achieve this goal, we provide webinars via archived recordings on our website (www.normgroup.org) on a plethora of topics, including:

  • Reporting on quality measures
  • Reporting drug wastage using the JW Modifier
  • Managing patient flow in your rheumatology practice.

To support NORM’s mission to provide education and advocacy to our practices and patients, Regulatory Reviews—which provide a snapshot of evolving regulatory topics—are archived weekly on our website.

We also stay active on social media, offering blogs on topics such as, “5 Festive Ways to Connect with your Patients this Holiday Season,” and “5 Tips for Front Office Success,” which challenge and support our members in a variety of practice areas.

At the NORM 2017 Conference in Kansas City, MO, a record number of attendees got “Jazzed About Rheumatology” as we learned critical skills from distinguished speakers, and then danced the night away with the NORM community. In October, we hope to see everyone at the NORM 2018 Conference in Tampa, FL, where we will uncover “Hidden Treasures of Rheumatology.”

As 2018 draws near, NORM will continue to meet new challenges and facilitate educational opportunities to support the needs of all of our members.
